Dental veneers / dental crowns Timisoara

Dental ceramic veneers are prosthetic pieces made in the dental laboratory, cemented to teeth that have been lightly prepared or even unprepared and that change, restore or correct the aesthetic appearance of the tooth (colour, shape). Dental veneers are made entirely of ceramic or popular "porcelain".

Dental crowns and bridges made on teeth or implants are prosthetic pieces that are cemented on teeth or fixed on implants and restore the functions and aesthetics of the tooth to be protected or replaced.

When teeth show major destruction or the remaining tooth volume is insufficient or prone to fracture, it is recommended to protect it with a dental crown.

FAQ about ceramic veneers & dental crowns

Dental veneers have multiple indications, but also some contraindications. When we have the possibility to use dental veneers, we can choose between veneers with minimal tooth preparation, i.e. grinding, or without preparation, depending on the clinical case. In both cases the result will be the same. Dental veneers are recommended in the following cases: the colour of your teeth does not suit you, the shape of your teeth does not suit you or the position of your teeth is unsightly.
This idea started from the fact that in some cases teeth are polished so that veneers can be applied. There are also no-prep veneers, which are totally non-invasive and do not require any sanding, just bonding the veneers directly to the enamel. In the case of veneers that require sanding of the tooth prior to application, this degree of sanding is very low and does not harm the tooth in any way. Teeth are sanded down to less than half a millimetre. Sanding for veneers is totally different from sanding for crowns, which is much coarser. It is a very painstaking and precise, time-consuming process that follows the morphology of the tooth exactly.
The major difference between crowns with and without metal components is the aesthetic aspect, with those with metal, after a while, that grey streak may appear near the gum. With metal-free crowns this does not occur! The tooth is prepared less for crowns without metal components, leaving a larger amount of tissue, which is beneficial for the patient over time.
